Inpatient Alcohol Rehab & Alcoholism Treatment Raleigh NC
In 2019, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services released some disturbing information about alcoholism, labeling it "the third leading preventable cause of death in North Carolina" and pointing out that "excessive drinking has been trending upward based on data from 2012-2017." In addition, 30 percent of North Carolina adults reported binge drinking in the previous 30 days, and 11 percent reported drinking heavily. Like the rest of the country, resident of North Carolina — and by extension, those who live in or near Raleigh — have a love affair with alcohol, but what can they do when it crosses over into problem drinking?
Fortunately for those who live in or near Raleigh, one of the most reputable alcoholism treatment centers in the country is located five hours to the west, just outside of Knoxville, Tennessee, only 20 miles from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Cornerstone of Recovery was founded by a recovering alcoholic in 1989, and over the past three decades, we've built his vision into a place that's so much more than just another alcohol rehab. We provide a continuum of care that's unrivaled in the Southeast, and we accept patients from across the region — including many seeking alcoholism treatment in or near Raleigh.
Their journey begins in our medically supervised detox program, which helps them safely and comfortably wean from the devastating physical withdrawals that can accompany stopping drinking. Afterward, they'll enter one of our four residential inpatient treatment programs: Newcomers, for individuals seeking alcoholism treatment for the first time; Recovery Renewal, specifically designed for those who have previous alcohol rehab stays or periods of abstinence but have been unable to remain sober; Young Adult, for men ages 18 to 26; and our unique Women's Program, a safe haven for females who need their own place in which to process the issues that can accompany their alcoholism.
We're in network with most private and commercial insurance policies, and we do it all out of a 25 acre, four facility campus that opened in 2017 and includes amenities that make our patients' stays as comfortable and engaging as possible. From physical exercise in our state-of-the-art fitness center to meals on the patio of the dining hall overlooking the Little River to multiple treatment modalities to dual diagnosis treatment for those with co-occurring mental health issues, we work to be so much more than an alcohol rehab. We're a place for individuals from Raleigh to seek a new way of life, free of the bondage of alcohol.
What People Are Saying About Us
the first step to the rest of your life starts at cornerstone of recovery
We’ve been in the business of treatment for addiction and alcoholism for almost 30 years, and in our early days, we even did treatment just over the state line in North Carolina. Now, we’re located on a single four-facility campus just outside of Knoxville, and we’re the largest residential alcohol and drug rehab in the state of Tennessee. Our enormous growth since 1989 is a direct result of our success in treating addicts and alcoholics; in other words, we know what we’re doing, and what we’re doing is changing lives.

Alcoholism & Drug Addiction Treatment Programs
You can be one of those lives changed. We recognize that it’s difficult to do anything about your problem when you’re trapped in the quicksand of the consequences it’s created, which is why we encourage you to consider getting out of the Raleigh area to get clean and learn how to live a fulfilling life in recovery.
We have the therapeutic tools to help you do that – proven clinical approaches that help you process trauma and issues that preceded your alcoholism as well as those exacerbated or caused by it, and we do so in one of four primary treatment programs:
Newcomers Inpatient Program
Clinically, the Newcomers Residential Alcohol & Drug Rehab Program is inpatient based and typically lasts between 28 and 35 days, during which time our trained counselors and other professionals develop individual treatment plans for each patient according to needs, backgrounds and situations. During that process, patients participate in a 12-Step recovery.
Young Adult Inpatient Program
Our Young Adult Residential rehab and recovery program is specifically structured for persons between the ages of 18 and 26. Understanding that this age group faces its own unique set of circumstances, our clinical staff focuses on developmental issues, behavior styles, and energy levels specific to the young adult.
Recovery Renewal Inpatient Program
Intensive residential inpatient program for those who have tried to stay clean in the past but been unsuccessful, even after exposure to an addiction treatment program and 12 step programs in the past. It’s designed to help patients target the triggers and issues that factor into their inability to stay clean and the factors that lead to a relapse
Women Only Inpatient Program
Cornerstone recognizes that women face issues in addiction and alcoholism that are unique to them. Clinically, the Womens' Programs is inpatient based and typically lasts between 28 and 35 days, during which time therapies are carried out within the safe space of a women’s only program. Group therapy, individual counseling, activity therapy, acceptance/integration therapy – they’re all designed for both the individual and the gender.
