Inpatient Alcohol & Drug Rehab Nashville TN
There are quite a few drug rehab possibilities in the Nashville area, and for good reason: From 2005 to 2010, an average of 218,000 people in the Nashville metropolitan area, ages 12 and older, reported using an illicit drug in the previous year, according to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health.
That represents 18.1 percent of the metro population, almost 4 percentage points higher than the state or national average during the same period. It hasn't gotten any better since, either: In 2017, the death rate due to drug overdoses was 32.2 residents per 100,000 people in Davidson County, higher than the state and national average. Opioid-related deaths mirrored that trend, as did those deaths attributed to heroin overdoses.
Given those numbers, there’s clearly a demand for addiction treatment … and at Cornerstone of Recovery, we recognize that sometimes you need to get out of the city where you’ve done so much of your using in order to get better. Three hours to the west, we've been offering comprehensive treatment for addiction since 1989, when we first opened our doors as a small, 18-bed drug rehab on the outskirts of Knoxville. In 2017, we moved to our current location — a four facility campus on 25 acres, halfway between Knoxville and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, that's one of the largest residential addiction treatment providers in Tennessee. From our spacious and comfortable residence tower to our state-of-the-art fitness center to patio dining overlooking a nearby river, we believe that a good drug rehab can provide both serenity and a new way to live.
At Cornerstone, that way begins with a safe, medically supervised detox regimen that lasts 3 to 5 days, followed by a transition to one of our four residential inpatient addiction treatment programs: Newcomers, for those seeking treatment for the first time; Recovery Renewal, for those who have been to drug rehab previously but have been unable to stay clean, or who have relapsed after a period of abstinence; Young Adult, an engaging program for men ages 18 to 26; and our Women's Only program, a sisterhood of recovering females who find fulfillment and validation among their peers. Within these programs, patients receive one-on-one counseling, peer support, 12 Step facilitation and evidence-based therapies, from dual diagnosis care for co-occurring mental health disorders by our psychiatric team to trauma therapy for past pain to family therapy to help divides with loved ones — who will get the opportunity to attend an intensive and immersive family therapy weekend during your stay.
At Cornerstone, an addiction treatment stay typically lasts 28 to 35 days, although that can be extended by patients who choose to take part in our Intensive Outpatient and Sober Living programs. We understand that sometimes, those who live in or near Nashville need a little more time away from it in order to get back on their feet, and we're happy to make arrangements for those individuals to stay as long as they need.
If you're a resident of Nashville and are interested in learning more, reach out to our trained and compassionate Admissions staff. We're in network with most private and commercial insurance providers, and we'll help you navigate the ins and outs of your health insurance so that you can get the most out of your benefits — while at the same time, getting the most out of the addiction treatment you need to get your life back on track.

We’re three hours east of Nashville down Interstate 40, and in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains, you’ll find a bucolic setting that’s a welcome respite to the bustle and boom of an ever-growing Music City. We’re a rehab program that’s offered treatment for drug and alcohol addictions since 1989, which means we have plenty of experience; we’re also the largest residential treatment center in the state of Tennessee, which means we have a place for you on our four-facility campus that includes a wide variety of treatment programs and therapeutic paths to help you stop using, lose the desire to use and find a new way to live.

Alcoholism & Drug Addiction Treatment Programs
Cornerstone of Recovery is a drug and alcohol rehab established by a business leader who lost everything due to his own alcoholism. After discovering sobriety, he put everything he had into opening up a modest, 18-bed facility in a suburban strip mall outside of Knoxville, and over the next 30 years, it's grown into one of the largest residential treatment providers in the state. Our addiction treatment programs offer a whole-person approach to drug and alcohol recovery, taking into account the individual needs of each patient and examining all areas of their lives that need attention.
Our approach is built on medical and scientific evidence that addiction is a biological, diagnostically quantifiable disease, a mental health disorder that requires a combination of compassion and rehabilitation. We emphasize to those who come to us with alcohol and drug addictions that they're not bad people who need to be good; they're sick people who need to get well, and our time-tested models of traditional abstinence-based therapy and evidence-based clinical practices provide the best path on which to do that. Whether you reside in Nashville, Tennessee, or other parts of the country, the approach to your addiction recovery is the same, and it all begins with medical detox.
A short term process usually lasting three- to five days, patients are monitored by medical staff around the clock while being administered medication to ease the symptoms of withdrawal, after which time they transition into one of four primary programs:
Newcomers Inpatient Program
Clinically, the Newcomers Residential Alcohol & Drug Rehab Program is inpatient based and typically lasts between 28 and 35 days, during which time our trained counselors and other professionals develop individual treatment plans for each patient according to needs, backgrounds and situations. During that process, patients participate in a 12-Step recovery.
Young Adult Inpatient Program
Our Young Adult Residential rehab and recovery program is specifically structured for persons between the ages of 18 and 26. Understanding that this age group faces its own unique set of circumstances, our clinical staff focuses on developmental issues, behavior styles, and energy levels specific to the young adult.
Recovery Renewal Inpatient Program
Intensive residential inpatient program for those who have tried to stay clean in the past but been unsuccessful, even after exposure to an addiction treatment program and 12 step programs in the past. It’s designed to help patients target the triggers and issues that factor into their inability to stay clean and the factors that lead to a relapse
Women Only Inpatient Program
Cornerstone recognizes that women face issues in addiction and alcoholism that are unique to them. Clinically, the Womens' Programs is inpatient based and typically lasts between 28 and 35 days, during which time therapies are carried out within the safe space of a women’s only program. Group therapy, individual counseling, activity therapy, acceptance/integration therapy – they’re all designed for both the individual and the gender.

Why Consider Leaving Nashville For Addiction Treatment
It’s not always easy to reach that potential when you’re stuck in the same playgrounds, surrounded by the same playmates. Leaving Nashville may seem like a worrisome endeavor, but a re-location to a new environment, free from the stressors that surround your day-to-day life, can sometimes be the best prescription for the “medicine” you need to combat your addiction. When you’re constantly surrounded by reminders of where you got high or drunk, and you can’t get away from the faces that were a part of that wreckage, it can be difficult to ever move past them. At Cornerstone of Recovery, you’ll be three hours away from the town associated with some of your darkest days.
By taking part in our residential inpatient program, you’ll develop a whole new set of coping skills, handed down by a safety net of peers and clinically trained staff members — many of whom are in recovery themselves — that will help you become stronger, steadier and more stable, so that when it’s time to return to Music City, you can do so with the support network in place and the confidence you need to succeed as an individual in recovery.
