Knoxville Top Workplaces Awards recognizes Cornerstone of Recovery

Knoxville Top Workplaces

Cornerstone of Recovery has been awarded a Knoxville Top Workplaces 2020 honor by the Knoxville News Sentinel. The list is based solely on employee feedback gathered through a third-party survey administered by employee engagement technology partner Energage, LLC. The anonymous survey uniquely measures 15 drivers of engaged cultures that are critical to the success of any organization: including alignment, execution and connection, just to name a few.

“In times of great change, it is more important than ever to maintain a connection among employees,” said Eric Rubino, Energage CEO. “When you give your employees a voice, you come together to navigate challenges and shape your path forward based on real-time insights into what works best for your organization. The Top Workplaces program can be that positive outcome your company can rally around in the coming months to celebrate leadership and the importance of maintaining an employee-focused culture, even during challenging times.”

Steve McGrew, the CEO and president of Cornerstone of Recovery, pointed to the company’s values, laid out by Cornerstone leadership several years ago and adjusted annually to reflect the drug and alcohol treatment center’s growth and diversity, as one of the drivers of employee satisfaction.

“We’ve made it a priority to focus on the needs of our tremendous staff, which has served Cornerstone’s patients with passion and compassion,” McGrew said. “Winning this award is confirmation that our leadership’s focus on creating a great environment in which to work has paid off for us.  The special part of winning this award is that it came from our employees.”

McGrew pointed to recent decisions by Cornerstone administration to recognize and reward all members of the company who continue to work directly with patients during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Front-line employees received a temporary pay raise during the height of the crisis, and Cornerstone leadership continues to provide weekly “comfort food” lunches for all staff who work on the campus of the addiction and alcoholism treatment center, located in Blount County’s Louisville community.

“We could not do what we do without the dedication and hard work of our employees,” McGrew said. “That they remain so committed to Cornerstone says a great deal about themselves — namely, that providing addiction treatment to individuals who continue to suffer greatly on top of what’s going on with the coronavirus is a calling for them as much as it is a job.

“Those of us in leadership positions at Cornerstone consider ourselves fortunate to bear witness to such unwavering support from everyone who works here. We truly are a family, and by taking care of one another, we can better serve those who come to us to discover a new way to live, free of drugs and alcohol. It’s an honor to be recognized for that as one of the Knoxville Top Workplaces.”

Knoxville Top Workplaces: Cornerstone of Recovery

Established in 1989, Cornerstone of Recovery began as a small, family-owned drug and alcohol treatment center built around our founder’s vision for those who suffer from addiction and alcoholism: that with education, therapy, compassion, kindness and understanding, all those afflicted can discover a new way to live and return to their homes and families as responsible, productive members of society. Over the past three decades, we’ve grown into one of the largest residential drug and alcohol treatment centers in Tennessee, and today we provide a full continuum of care from a 172-bed, 25-acre campus located 15 minutes from downtown Knoxville and 30 minutes from the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
