Alcoholism Treatment & Alcohol Rehab Louisville KY

A 2017 report revealed that Louisville is "the heaviest drinking city in Kentucky," according to the city's newspaper of record, which wasn't surprising, given Louisville's history as "the place that first sold bottled bourbon to drinkers." With heavy drinking, however, comes greater problems, which means the need for residents in or near Louisville to have access to a top-tier alcoholism treatment center is important.

Less than four hours away, just outside Knoxville, Tennessee, is one of the best alcohol rehabs in the Southeast. Cornerstone of Recovery has helped thousands of alcoholics achieve sobriety since 1989, and over the past three decades, we've grown from a humble 18-bed facility to the largest residential treatment provider in the state of Tennessee, operating off of a four facility campus situated on 25 acres between Knoxville and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. In that time, we've been honored to provide alcoholism treatment to many residents of Kentucky, who find at Cornerstone not just abstinence, but real and lasting change that addresses the reasons they drank in the first place.

Any successful sobriety journey begins, of course, with safe, medically supervised detox, but Louisville residents who come to Cornerstone begin the work on themselves in one of our four alcoholism treatment programs: Newcomers, for those undertaking a sobriety journey for the first time; Recovery Renewal, for individuals with previous alcoholism treatment experience or periods of recovery who have relapsed; Young Adult, an engaging program for men ages 18 to 26; and our Women's Program, which provides a gender-specific safe space for female patients to recover.

In addition, we provide a broad array of alcoholism treatment modalities, group lectures, peer support, one-on-one counseling and so much more: Fitness Therapy in our state-of-the-art on-campus fitness center; family therapy, which brings loved ones into the alcoholism treatment process and allows healing as a family unit; psychiatric services for dual diagnosis patients who need assistance in managing co-occurring mental health disorders; and so much more.

Cornerstone of Recovery is so much more than just another alcohol rehab. Our full continuum of care is available to anyone, including those who live in or near Louisville, and because we're in network with most major commercial and private health insurance plans, chances are that if you have a problem with alcohol, we've got a place for you to get better.

Your Recovery Journey Begins Here

Three Reasons Why You Need to Call Today to Get Addiction and Alcoholism Treatment

  • We’re in the middle of great economic uncertainty. Unemployment rates reached their highest levels in history in April, which means COVID-19 took a catastrophic toll on the job market this spring. If you have a job — or even if you don’t, but you still have benefits provided by your previous place of employment — you’re fortunate. And you should take advantage of those benefits to get the help you need for a drug or alcohol problem today, because there’s no guarantee you’ll have the resources to do so down the road.

  • No one is truly certain what life in the time of coronavirus looks like going forward. Yes, there are still new cases being logged daily, and yes, it’s certainly a health concern for anyone and everyone. But if you’re struggling with addiction and alcoholism, you’re already sick — and the disease you’re battling is far more likely to claim your life than COVID-19. Overdose deaths kill more Americans annually than all combat deaths in the Vietnam War, and alcohol-related deaths claim 88,000 lives yearly. If you have an alcohol or drug problem, you’re more likely to become one of those statistics than a COVID-19 victim.

  • Putting it off for another day is no longer an option. You may tell yourself that it is … and you may have made it this far without treatment … but are you truly living? In our experience — and many of us who work at Cornerstone are in recovery ourselves — suffering from addiction and alcoholism is just existing. Our problems slowly get worse, our health slowly declines and we’re stuck in wreckage of our own making, until we’re faced with two choices: get help, or lose everything. Why wait until the latter when with a simple phone call, you can choose the former?
the first step to the rest of your life starts at cornerstone of recovery

It’s been our goal since 1989, when our founder, William J. “Bill” Hood, leveraged everything he owned to open a small recovery center in a strip mall outside of Knoxville to give hope to the hopeless. As a former executive for a national company, he had lost it all before getting sober 10 years earlier, and he knew from personal experience how devastating alcoholism can be, and what an overwhelming need there was then – and still is – for alcoholism treatment in the Southeast. At the time, Cornerstone of Recovery had beds for 18 patients and room for 22 staff members; now, we have more than 100 beds and roughly 250 staff members managing four distinct programs out of a four-facility campus on 25 acres just outside of Knoxville.

Bill’s status as a recovering alcoholic set the tone for our treatment model, and today, more than 90 percent of our clinical staff members are in recovery themselves. We believe that the therapeutic value of an individual who once struggled with alcohol and/or drugs helping those who currently do is without parallel; when combined with academic knowledge and scientifically proven clinical methods of treatment for drug and alcohol addictions, that practical experience gives patients the best possible scenario for long-term sobriety after they leave our care.

Get To Know Our Alcoholism Treatment Programs

The first step in the alcoholism treatment process is through Medical Detox, where patients are slowly and safely weaned from the booze that has ravaged their bodies, impaired their minds and destroyed their spirits. Our trained medical staff members monitor patients around the clock during a typical three- to five-day detox stay, and once the initial fog of alcoholism has lifted, we integrate those patients into a community of peers all working toward the same goal: relief from the disease that wants to claim their lives. Those peer groups include the following inpatient treatment programs:

Newcomers Inpatient Program

For individuals ready to get help for the first time with a drinking problem, the Newcomers Alcoholism Treatment Program gives them tools to get sober and stay that way, while at the same time educating them about the disease concept and introducing them to basic recovery techniques that can replace unhealthy coping mechanisms that have contributed to their alcoholism.

Recovery Renewal Inpatient Program

Individuals who have sought alcoholism treatment in the past, or who have achieved periods of abstinence, often feel demoralized if they relapse. That's where our Recovery Renewal Alcoholism Treatment Program comes in. It's a deeper dive into the issues that have prevented them from obtaining sustained recovery, so that they leave Cornerstone confident in their ability to stay sober.

Young Adult Inpatient Program

Young men ages 18 to 26 who fall victim to alcoholism often find that their lives have been cut short before they've truly begun. In our Young Adult Alcoholism Treatment Program, they find a treatment path for energetic bodies, active minds and a zeal for discovering what life has to offer on the other side of drugs and alcohol.

Women Only Inpatient Program

In recovering from alcoholism, female patients often have to deal with a host of issues, traumas and problems that are unique to their gender. Our Women's Only Alcoholism Treatment Program is designed to provide them a safe place to do just that, and over the course of 28 to 35 days, they'll work on acceptance, healing and confidence with a group of like-minded peers.

Why Consider Leaving Louisville For Treatment

Whether you struggle with drug and alcohol problems or you're a family member of someone who does, you may be wondering what Cornerstone of Recovery offers that you won't find in Louisville, Kentucky. While there are, no doubt, a number of successful treatment options in the Louisville area, few offer the sort of time-tested success that Cornerstone does.

Over the past three decades, we've treated thousands of alcoholics and addicts who find that our treatment services help with so much more than just the substances to which they're addicted. Whether they suffer from health problems or mental health issues, the goal at Cornerstone is to get to the heart of what lies beyond the surface-level detritus of drugs and alcohol. The substances are often a symptom of a deeper malaise that must be addressed before long-term sobriety can be sustained, and that's where we excel.
