Alcoholism Treatment & Alcohol Rehab Louisville KY
A 2017 report revealed that Louisville is "the heaviest drinking city in Kentucky," according to the city's newspaper of record, which wasn't surprising, given Louisville's history as "the place that first sold bottled bourbon to drinkers." With heavy drinking, however, comes greater problems, which means the need for residents in or near Louisville to have access to a top-tier alcoholism treatment center is important.
Less than four hours away, just outside Knoxville, Tennessee, is one of the best alcohol rehabs in the Southeast. Cornerstone of Recovery has helped thousands of alcoholics achieve sobriety since 1989, and over the past three decades, we've grown from a humble 18-bed facility to the largest residential treatment provider in the state of Tennessee, operating off of a four facility campus situated on 25 acres between Knoxville and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. In that time, we've been honored to provide alcoholism treatment to many residents of Kentucky, who find at Cornerstone not just abstinence, but real and lasting change that addresses the reasons they drank in the first place.
Any successful sobriety journey begins, of course, with safe, medically supervised detox, but Louisville residents who come to Cornerstone begin the work on themselves in one of our four alcoholism treatment programs: Newcomers, for those undertaking a sobriety journey for the first time; Recovery Renewal, for individuals with previous alcoholism treatment experience or periods of recovery who have relapsed; Young Adult, an engaging program for men ages 18 to 26; and our Women's Program, which provides a gender-specific safe space for female patients to recover.
In addition, we provide a broad array of alcoholism treatment modalities, group lectures, peer support, one-on-one counseling and so much more: Fitness Therapy in our state-of-the-art on-campus fitness center; family therapy, which brings loved ones into the alcoholism treatment process and allows healing as a family unit; psychiatric services for dual diagnosis patients who need assistance in managing co-occurring mental health disorders; and so much more.
Cornerstone of Recovery is so much more than just another alcohol rehab. Our full continuum of care is available to anyone, including those who live in or near Louisville, and because we're in network with most major commercial and private health insurance plans, chances are that if you have a problem with alcohol, we've got a place for you to get better.

What People Are Saying About Us
the first step to the rest of your life starts at cornerstone of recovery
It’s been our goal since 1989, when our founder, William J. “Bill” Hood, leveraged everything he owned to open a small recovery center in a strip mall outside of Knoxville to give hope to the hopeless. As a former executive for a national company, he had lost it all before getting sober 10 years earlier, and he knew from personal experience how devastating alcoholism can be, and what an overwhelming need there was then – and still is – for alcoholism treatment in the Southeast. At the time, Cornerstone of Recovery had beds for 18 patients and room for 22 staff members; now, we have more than 100 beds and roughly 250 staff members managing four distinct programs out of a four-facility campus on 25 acres just outside of Knoxville.
Bill’s status as a recovering alcoholic set the tone for our treatment model, and today, more than 90 percent of our clinical staff members are in recovery themselves. We believe that the therapeutic value of an individual who once struggled with alcohol and/or drugs helping those who currently do is without parallel; when combined with academic knowledge and scientifically proven clinical methods of treatment for drug and alcohol addictions, that practical experience gives patients the best possible scenario for long-term sobriety after they leave our care.

Alcoholism & Drug Addiction Treatment Programs
Cornerstone has developed alcohol and drug rehab & recovery programs to fit the needs of our patients. As with many things in life, there is not a one size fits all approach to treating the addiction disease. Through a proper assessment and evaluation period, Cornerstone of Recovery can make the best recommendation for each individual that will give them the best opportunity to achieve a lasting recovery.
Newcomers Inpatient Program
Clinically, the Newcomers Residential Alcohol & Drug Rehab Program is inpatient based and typically lasts between 28 and 35 days, during which time our trained counselors and other professionals develop individual treatment plans for each patient according to needs, backgrounds and situations. During that process, patients participate in a 12-Step recovery.
Young Adult Inpatient Program
Our Young Adult Residential rehab and recovery program is specifically structured for persons between the ages of 18 and 26. Understanding that this age group faces its own unique set of circumstances, our clinical staff focuses on developmental issues, behavior styles, and energy levels specific to the young adult.
Recovery Renewal Inpatient Program
Intensive residential inpatient program for those who have tried to stay clean in the past but been unsuccessful, even after exposure to an addiction treatment program and 12 step programs in the past. It’s designed to help patients target the triggers and issues that factor into their inability to stay clean and the factors that lead to a relapse
Women Only Inpatient Program
Cornerstone recognizes that women face issues in addiction and alcoholism that are unique to them. Clinically, the Womens' Programs is inpatient based and typically lasts between 28 and 35 days, during which time therapies are carried out within the safe space of a women’s only program. Group therapy, individual counseling, activity therapy, acceptance/integration therapy – they’re all designed for both the individual and the gender.

Why Consider Leaving Louisville For Treatment
Whether you struggle with drug and alcohol problems or you're a family member of someone who does, you may be wondering what Cornerstone of Recovery offers that you won't find in Louisville, Kentucky. While there are, no doubt, a number of successful treatment options in the Louisville area, few offer the sort of time-tested success that Cornerstone does.
Over the past three decades, we've treated thousands of alcoholics and addicts who find that our treatment services help with so much more than just the substances to which they're addicted. Whether they suffer from health problems or mental health issues, the goal at Cornerstone is to get to the heart of what lies beyond the surface-level detritus of drugs and alcohol. The substances are often a symptom of a deeper malaise that must be addressed before long-term sobriety can be sustained, and that's where we excel.
