How Does TriCare for Addiction Treatment Work?

If you’re a veteran or an active duty service member of any branch of the United States armed forces, including the National Guard, and you have a TriCare policy that provides benefits for yourself or your dependents, then you’re eligible for coverage of addiction treatment. According to the TriCare website, some of the services the plan covers include “inpatient services; intensive outpatient programs; management of withdrawal symptoms (detoxification); medication assisted treatment; mental health therapeutic services; residential substance use disorder treatment”; and much more — all of which are offered at Cornerstone of Recovery. From the moment you make that initial phone call to our trained and compassionate Admissions counselors, we’ll put you in touch with the individuals on our team who will help you navigate the authorization you need to put your TriCare benefits to work with us. You and your family members have given much in service of your country — now it’s time to let the benefits provided for your health serve you, in one of the best drug and alcohol treatment facilities in the country.

Why Use Your TriCare Policy at Cornerstone?

Cornerstone of Recovery is an industry leader in addiction treatment — not just in Knoxville, but throughout the country. Our philosophy started with traditional, abstinence-based philosophies, but over the past three decades, we’ve grown to include a broad array of evidence-based therapeutic regimens that serve those in our four residential inpatient treatment programs. Whether you’re getting help for the first time or the fifth time, we’ve got a place for you, and as part of a community of peers, you’ll receive a comprehensive array of the therapy we have to offer. From one-on-one counseling to family therapy, from group therapy to psychotherapies like CBT and DBT, from time in our on-campus fitness center to educational lectures, you’ll get an opportunity not just to stop using drugs, but to better understand the reasons why you continue to use them, even in the face of tragic, life-altering consequences. At Cornerstone of Recovery, we recognize that addiction isn’t a moral failure or due to a lack of willpower — it’s an illness, and like all illnesses, it requires time, support and the right treatment in order for healing to take place.

Cornerstone of Recovery and veterans

If you’ve served our country, it’s time to let us serve you back. At Cornerstone of Recovery, we’ve long recognized that service-related commitments and duties sometimes precipitate or coincide with addiction. Combat-related PTSD can lead many veterans who return home from overseas to turn to drugs and alcohol in order to cope. At Cornerstone of Recovery, the services we offer can help address all of those issues. We have a dedicated psychiatric team that can evaluate you for dual diagnosis treatment of co-occurring mental health issues like depression and anxiety. We have on-staff trauma therapists who use a process known as EMDR — Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing — to face and overcome trauma of all kinds. We utilize regimens like Cognitive Processing Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to look at stuck points in your emotional past. And our veterans will meet regularly in a group led

by staff members who themselves have served, and can help you examine ways in which your addiction and your service may have intersected, as well as ways that tools of your military can aid you in your recovery.

We’re not the only drug rehab in Knoxville that accepts TriCare, but we’re one of the most comprehensive, thorough and compassionate facilities you’ll find. It’s an honor to be in network with TriCare, and our Admissions counselors are standing by to help you put your benefits to use, so that you get the addiction treatment you need and deserve.

Learn More About Cornerstone of Recovery

What Is Involved With The Treatment Programs?

Cornerstone of Recovery is situated in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee, and since 1989, we’ve helped those who suffer from addiction and alcoholism find a new way to live.

As one of the nation’s most respected substance abuse treatment centers – as well as the largest residential treatment center in the state of Tennessee – we provide patients with a broad array of recovery tools, from medically assisted detox services that help addicted patients safely withdraw from any and all drugs to models of treatment based in both science and tradition. From scientifically proven methods like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Schema Therapy to 12 Step based therapy with a group of peers, our residential/inpatient programs are tailored to an individual’s specific needs. Our treatment paths meet patients wherever they are, from first-time treatment seekers to those who have been through the process before to a host of career-specific professional programs:

Newcomers Inpatient Program

The Newcomers Residential Alcohol and Drug Rehab Program usually lasts from 28 to 35 days, during which time patients are immersed in an individual treatment plan that addresses their needs, backgrounds and situations. From 12 Step recovery to peer support to psychiatric care for dual diagnosis issues to a host of therapeutic modalities, it's a path for those dealing with alcoholism for the first time.

Recovery Renewal Inpatient Program

Recovery is often not a "one and done" process. Sometimes, individuals with previous treatment experience or significant amounts of sobriety can relapse, and that's where our Recovery Renewal Residential Inpatient Program can help. Through intense therapeutic work, it addresses the reasons those individuals have been unable to stay sober and helps them find healthy coping skills.

Young Adult Inpatient Program

Young men between the ages of 18 and 26 often need an alcoholism treatment program to engage restless bodies and active minds. That's where our Young Adult Residential rehab and recovery program comes in. It's specifically designed to meet the challenges that this age group faces, and our clinical staff focuses on developmental issues, behavior styles and energy levels specific to the young adult.

Women Only Inpatient Program

While recovery is available to anyone, the individual paths to a new way of life on the other side of alcoholism are unique to the individual. Women, in particular, often face a number of issues and traumas unique to their gender. As part of our Women's Only Alcoholism Treatment Program, female patients will find a safe space to process their issues, bond with other women and find hope, healing and recovery from alcoholism.

After residential inpatient, there are a number of treatment options for continuing care, including our Intensive Outpatient Program, which gives patients a chance to extend their stay; Support Living facilities, which provide on-campus or nearby housing for IOP clients and those in our partial hospitalization program; in-treatment and follow-up mental health care as part of our psychiatric program, which helps with the regulation of co-occurring disorders; as well as Aftercare groups for alumni who wish to maintain contact with the facility that helped their lives change.
