Alcohol & Drug Rehab That Accepts Aetna Health Insurance Near Asheville NC
If you live in the Asheville area and find yourself struggling to crawl out of the abyss of addiction and alcoholism, you're in luck: One of the best drug and alcohol treatment centers in the nation is just over the mountains, near Knoxville, Tennessee. And if you have health insurance through an Aetna policy or plan, your luck just got even better — because Cornerstone of Recovery is in network with most major private and commercial insurance providers, including Aetna.
We've cultivated relationships with companies like Aetna over three decades of providing treatment to thousands of addicts and alcoholics from across the country, including many who live in or near Asheville. We were founded by a recovering alcoholic in 1989 and began as a small operation with only 18 beds and 22 staff members. In 2017, when we moved onto our new 25-acre campus that includes a residence tower, administration and treatment buildings and a state-of-the-art fitness center, we had grown into one of the largest residential treatment providers in the state of Tennessee, with 172 beds and more than 250 staff members.
We've been able to grow because despite our increase in size and scope, we've remained committed to the vision of the man who started us: that addicts and alcoholics are sick people who need both traditional methods of recovery through the 12 Steps and evidence-based psychological tools, along with basic principles of respect like kindness, acceptance and empathy, to get better. That path to wellness begins in our safe, medically supervised detox program, which allows them to slowly wean from the substances that have caused them such heartache. Afterward, they'll transition to one of our four residential inpatient programs: Newcomers, for those seeking help for the first time; Recovery Renewal, for individuals who haven't been able to stay clean and sober despite previous attempts at rehab or recovery; Young Adult, for men ages 18 to 26; and our unique Women's Program, designed to shelter and lift up all of our female patients.
In each program, patients will receive one-on-one counseling, peer support therapy, educational lectures and exposure to a broad array of other therapeutic tools: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Cognitive Processing Therapy; family therapy, which helps heal the whole family for those units who want to help with the individual process; psychiatric evaluations to serve the dual diagnosis needs of those with co-occurring mental health issues; Activity Therapy, to build trust and break down walls; and much, much more. It's a full continuum of care, but the most valuable part of the treatment process is the fact that you can leave Asheville, immerse yourself for a 28- to 35-day stay with us that's partially or fully covered by your Aetna plan and return home with a new perspective and a new way of dealing with stress and difficulty through the tools of long-term recovery.

What Is Involved With The Alcoholism Treatment Programs?
Many individuals receiving help for their addiction and alcoholism for the first time labor under the mistaken assumption that treatment means coming to Cornerstone of Recovery from Asheville and allowing your Aetna health insurance plan to pay for us to help you stop using drugs and alcohol. Yes, that's part of the process, but addiction and alcoholism aren't just about a problem with substances — they involve a labyrinthine web of issues, traumas, poor coping skills and family-of-origin complexities that have led to a point where drugs and alcohol are used in spite of all of the negative consequences they cause. One of the hallmarks of addiction is that repetition, even in the face of disastrous results — and to truly recover, addicts and alcoholics need to understand the disease that afflicts them, find healthy coping skills and deal with the issues that have made their lives so unmanageable.
Newcomers Inpatient Program
Addiction and alcoholism have nothing to do with strength of will or morality. For those coming to grips with their illnesses for the first time, it's a common misconception, but in our Newcomers Program, we teach those individuals that they're not "bad" people; they're sick people, but there's a way for them to get better through the tools we impart that treat the body, mind and spirit during this 28- to 35-day program.
Recovery Renewal Inpatient Program
Relapse doesn't equal failure, despite the hopelessness felt by those who stumble after previous attempts at drug and alcohol rehab or recovery. In our Recovery Renewal Program, we help those individuals uncover issues that were perhaps previously unaddressed, so that they may be dealt with in a way that prevents them from being a sticking point as these patients continue down a path of long-term peace of mind and permanent sobriety.
Young Adult Inpatient Program
Younger addicts and alcoholics often have trouble connecting with older peers, even though they come to us for help with the same problems. As a result, we've created a unique Young Adult Program for men ages 18 to 26, so that they can form their own peer community, receive a more active treatment protocol and take part in some vocational therapy that allows them to look to a future beyond one that consists of the dereliction of drug and alcohol abuse.
Women Only Inpatient Program
One of the crown jewels of our treatment tracks is our unique Women's Only Program, which was launched in 2017 when we moved to our new campus. By separating male and female patients, we opened up new avenues of healing for female clients who were often reluctant to process their unique issues and traumas in a co-educational dynamic, and we created a peer support group that's one of the strongest communities at Cornerstone of Recovery.
After patients complete residential inpatient, many of them may not be ready to return home to the Asheville area. Treatment, after all, doesn't make problems go away — it just better prepares those who receive it to deal with those problems without relying on alcohol and drugs as a crutch, and some patients need more time before they're ready to do so. Fortunately, our Intensive Outpatient Program, which can be partially or fully covered by your Aetna health plan, is an extension of the Cornerstone safety net. You'll continue group therapy and classes for several hours a day, four days a week, while residing in our Sober Living community and slowly reintegrating back into the "real world." It's a way of easing your sober self back into a world that's often fast-paced and frenetic, but with the tools we provide, you'll find that you can not only thrive, but do so with a peace of mind you've never known before.
