In 1989, Cornerstone of Recovery opened for business with 18 beds, 22 staff members and a whole lot of doubt on the part of others in the drug and alcohol treatment field. It was understandable; an upstart operation often has a slim chance of succeeding ... but at Cornerstone, our founder was driven by a fervent belief that with the right amount of therapy, education, kindness, acceptance, encouragement and love, those who come to us for help can break the cycle of addiction and alcoholism. Over three decades, our approach has remained largely the same. We've continued to examine and incorporate new experiential and psychological therapies, and the credentials of our staff members have grown lengthier, but we remain committed to providing an oasis from the guilt and shame of addiction and alcoholism and an opportunity to climb out of the ever-deepening abyss that those illnesses are. Newcomers Inpatient Program
The Newcomers Program takes those with no previous knowledge or exposure to the treatment process and provides them with both education and therapy. They’ll learn about the disease of addiction and its biological and scientific natures, as well as gather information and tools needed to change their own thinking and behaviors so that the adjustments needed to recover from those illnesses can be applied in a real-world setting after they leave treatment.
Recovery Renewal Inpatient Program
After going through rehab and emerging with a headful of new ideas and ways to change, putting them into practice can be a challenge. Sometimes, individuals aren't up to it, and they can fall victim to relapse. The Recovery Renewal Program is designed to help get them back on the road to recovery, double down on their efforts, work on issues that haven't been addressed and make more robust plans for how to stay clean and sober permanently once they leave treatment.
Young Adult Inpatient Program
Young addicts and alcoholics in the 18- to 26-year-old age range often find it difficult to identify with and engage with their older peers. For this reason, men this age are grouped together in our Young Adult Program, which provides a greater emphasis on physical activity and more age-appropriate psychotherapy material designed to meet them where they're at. There are also vocational elements designed to assist them in planning for their futures.
Women Only Inpatient Program
Female clients who come to us for drug and alcohol treatment need the be uplifted and validated — and the best way we can do that is by providing them entry into our unique Women's Only Program. There, they'll take part in a program designed specifically for women, led by women, in which the issues, traumas and experiences of their gender can be addressed and healed without the complicating presence of male peers.
The good thing about Cornerstone of Recovery's proximity to Nashville? We're not that far away, and if you come to us to put your Humana plan to work in getting treatment for drugs and alcohol, you can extend your stay after residential inpatient and take part in our Intensive Outpatient Program. There, you'll continue to attend lectures and support groups for several hours a day, stay in our Sober Living community and work toward reintegrating back into the "real" world. After a certain amount of time, you'll be able to take therapeutic leaves back home to Nashville to visit family, obtain use of your cell phone, find employment or engage in volunteer opportunities at Cornerstone or in the local community.
