Support Living

What is the Support Living Program?
It is a program for clients in the early recovery phase. Professional staff assists clients in learning to live in community with others to promote long-term recovery. Clients live in apartments or houses and follow specific rules and guidelines established to promote recovery:

  • Provide evidence of completion of a treatment program or current active status in an intensive outpatient treatment program
  • Maintain daily engagement in work, school, or a volunteer program
  • Maintain regular participation in 12-step work and meetings
  • Observe established curfews
  • Attend house peer meetings
  • Attend continuing care groups
  • Provide alcohol/drug screenings on staff request
  • Participate in supportive living activity planning
  • Maintain safety and cleanliness of living quarters

Who should consider enrolling in the Support Living program?

  • Clients that do not have a stable or supportive living situation available after treatment
  • Clients that may require continued structure to help resist a return to old ways of thinking and behaving
  • Clients engaged in extended care programs
  • Clients engaged in intensive outpatient treatment who need living quarters nearby

What type staff is involved with the Support Living program?
A Master’s level therapist serves as Clinical Director. Each residence/apartment building is assigned a primary counselor and a Master’s level Family Therapist is assigned to each client involved in treatment. The Support Living program employs a nurse to assist in managing medications that are prescribed to clients.

Where is the Support Living program located?
Current support living residences are located in Blount County near Cornerstone’s main facility. All together, 125 beds in apartment complexes and houses are available for clients. All meetings and counseling are conducted at the 4726 Airport Highway facility.

How do I enroll in the Support Living program?
Call 800-684-6614 and ask for the Admissions Department. A telephone screening or individual appointment will be scheduled to begin the admission process.
