Family Services

Cornerstone of Recovery offers healing to the entire family.  Through a variety of family services, we help the family work through its hurt and pain, provide structured emotional support, and educate family members about the disease of chemical dependency.

All of our family services are provided at no charge for the loved ones of our patients.

Family Fundamentals
This 3-day weekend is designed to educate and support family members of our patients.  This intense program is designed to simulate 3 days on a residential treatment unit.  The days consist of group therapy, multiple education groups, activities, testimonials, and 12-step groups.  Topics covered are codependency, enabling, spirituality, continuous care, and the disease concept.  Available 3 weekends a month, pre-registration is a requirement.

Family Therapy
Weekly therapy sessions involve the patient, the family, and one of our masters-level or doctorate-level clinicians.  Family therapy takes place at Cornerstone of Recovery or can be arranged by telephone, if needed.

Support Group for Family Members
Led by a family therapist, this weekly meeting provides family members a place to come together to give and seek support relating to a loved one’s addiction.

Parents of Young Adult Support Group
Facilitated by a staff counselor, this weekly meeting is composed of parents of young adults who come together to give and seek support relating to their son/daughter’s addiction.

Jean’s Kids (named in memory of Jean Hood, one of Cornerstone’s founders)
Facilitated by a member of our family therapy staff, this support group is specifically designed for children ages 3 – 10 whose parents are in treatment.  This group is designed to offer children a non-invasive, supportive way to deal with their feelings, such as through art, games, and other fun activities.
